The Triple Rinse Procedure: How to Triple Rinse Chemical Containers
How do you triple rinse chemical containers?
The process varies slightly depending on what type of containers you’re rinsing, but usually, you’ll follow a set of steps like this:
1. Wear Protective Equipment
First and foremost, you need to make sure you wear protective equipment. Check the label of the chemical container you’re emptying to determine what types of protective equipment are most important. Generally, you’ll need to wear goggles, gloves, and an apron at minimum. Certain types of chemicals will require even further precautions.
2. Remove the Container Cap and Empty the Container
Remove the lid of the container and empty the total chemical contents into your spray tank. You’ll want to leave the container to drain for at least 30 seconds to ensure full and proper drainage.
3. Fill to 20-25% and Replace the Cap
Next, you’ll use the jet rinse triple rinsing nozzle to fill the container to 20-25%, using water or a rinsing solution. After that, you’ll replace the cap.
4. Swirl the Liquid, Remove the Cap, and Drain
With water in the sealed container, you’ll roll the container to swirl the liquid and rinse the inside surfaces. When done, you’ll drain the container again for at least 30 seconds.
5. Repeat Steps 2-4, 2 More Times
Triple rinsing requires you to perform these “rinse” steps 3 times in total, so repeat steps 2-4, 2 additional times.
6. Puncture the Container
When you’re done, puncture the container so it’s no longer usable.
